02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

LBC promotes the advancement of public participation in the sport of boating which includes organising training, regattas and races. Support the advancement of the seamanship heritage of Lerwick with the promotion of the Shetland Model Sailing Boat as a racing boat. Provide recreational facilities for club members and visiting yachtsfolk, and the organisation of recreational activities.

Constitutional objectives

The organisation's purposes are: 1. To promote the advancement of public participation in the sport of boating including instruction in sailing, particularly for young people. ?h? the advancement of public participation in sport. Organising junior and senior sail training and running regattas. 2.To support the advancement of the seamanship heritage of Lerwick with the promotion of the Shetland Model Sailing Boat as a racing boat. ?g? The advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science. Shetland model sailing and yoal rowing keeps traditional Shetland seamanship heritage alive by promoting sailing and rowing to all ages, especially young people. 3.The provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. ?I? provision of recreational facilities.
