02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Our charity was set up to take ownership of roughly 31 acres of land to create a haven for indigenous wildlife that is struggling to reside in the Hogganfield area amidst countless infrastructure,housing developments which restrict wildlife movement. This is a long term project which has taken 9years just to get the land. The land has been stripped of 96% non native Sitka spruce and grey alder trees and will be replanted with thousands of native trees, the creation of habitats to encourage wildlife to come and for wildlife currently there. A deer fence will be constructed to protect the saplings. Viable peat bog will be regenerated, wetland habitat created. Indigenous flora and fauna encouraged within. Our community will voluntarily maintain the area with the help of conservation groups for future generations and for wildlife to thrive. It will contribute to green targets for carbon capture and mental and physical benefits for resident and public just by having this green space.

The organisation's purposes are: 4.1 The advancement of environmental protection or improvement by clearing, enhancing and maintaining the community woodland for the benefit of all residents of Willowpark and Meadowview estates 4.2 The advancement of environmental protection or improvement by ensuring the preservation and conservation of the natural environment and the conservation or protection of indigenous wildlife living within this woodland. 4.3 The advancement of environmental protection or improvement by enabling members and residents to come together as a community and protect this valuable biodiverse environmental green space
