02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Our purposes are two fold, assisting in the ecosystem recovery of the area known as the Fertile Crescent, and in helping the Atlantic Rainforest in the area known as Moidart in the West Coast of Scotland to be revived. We have been engaged in the practical recovery of the Rainforest in Moidart by organising week long programmes with volunteers and community members. Our progammes consist of removing the invasive plant Rhododendron ponticum, planting native trees, growing native trees from seeds, erecting tree-guards, and related activities such as tool maintenance, etc. Holding training weeks for people to hold our volunteer weeks are also part of our activities. Regarding our purpose to assist in rewilding the Fertile Crescent, we have held a number of trainings known as Ecovillage Design Education with Gaia Education. We have offered online training of a programme known as Soil, Soul, Social Alchemy to participants from the Fertile Crescent. This work is ongoing.
