02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Pilrig Park is a special needs secondary school in Edinburgh which caters for pupils with severe and complex additional support needs. Most pupils have a combination of physical, sensory disabilities and or health conditions that limit their ability to access activities without one to one support. 27% of pupils families live below the poverty threshold. All pupils are limited verbally. There is little school funding to go beyond statutory educational provision. The charity aims to seek funding for music therapy. access to a purpose built play centre. highly supported work experience on site and any other appropriate 3rd sector activity that pupils could access if funding was available e.g. drumming, bagpipes, dance etc.
