02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The Mill of Benholm Enterprise owns the Category A listed historic watermill Mill of Benholm to restore and preserve the site and safeguard the Mill for generation to come. The aim is to operate the site as a visitors attraction, museum and community hub. The Mill of Benholm Enterprise endeavours to enhance the natural as well as built heritage, to increase biodiversity and work with other organisations together to increase the promotion of Benholm and the Coastal Mearns. Activities and events are organised for the community, together with several weekly volunteer opportunities.

Constitutional objectives
The organisation's purposes are to preserve public access in order: 1.1 To advance heritage by preserving and developing the historic Mill of Benholm within the local unique environment 1.2 To enhance the enjoyment of art and culture on site and in the environs of the Mill 1.3 To promote and protect the natural heritage 1.4 To promote citizenship, community development, and to create volunteering opportunities for the benefit of the community of Benholm, the surrounding area and beyond by delivering a diverse variety of services and initiatives 1.5 To provide leisure and recreation facilities within the Mill, the surrounding woods and the wider environment, with the object of improving the health and wellbeing of the people of Benholm and the surrounding area 1.6 To advance education and learning by providing workshops, training sessions and courses on the site and in the surrounding woodland
