What the charity exists to do

To support and encourage young people and adults facing mental health challenges via programmes and workshops using sport, exercise and the arts.

Constitutional objectives

The charitable purposes of the SCIO ('the Charitable Purposes') are: the relief of those in need by reasons of mental health issues, disabilities or those facing challenging life circumstances. In furtherance, the SCIO shall: provide support to those people who have experienced, or are currently experiencing mental health issues, have a disability or are facing challenging life circumstances. provide and promote opportunities in sport and physical activity, music, drama and other activities to help aid the recovery of people experiencing mental health issues, have a disability or are facing challenging life circumstances and encourage individuals to move their lives forward in a positive direction. promote the preservation of mental health through peer-support and the sharing of information and participation of activities that encourages good health and well-being. promote an understanding of social issues, mental health issues or disabilities in the wider community thus raising awareness and reduce discrimination and stigma attached to those areas. the advancement of education through the provision of programmes, workshops and class-room based support that teaches healthy educational activities, promotes self-confidence, raises the self-esteem and aspirations and unlocks the potential of the participants.
