02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Glasgow Kayak Club is a volunteer-led community sports club dedicated to making paddlesports accessible, inclusive and enjoyable for people of all ages and abilities. We provide regular coached kayaking and canoeing sessions for both adults and children in a safe, supportive environment, helping participants develop skills, confidence, fitness and a lifelong enjoyment of being active outdoors. Our qualified coaches and volunteers deliver structured training, recreational paddling and opportunities to progress into competition, leadership and volunteering. We work to remove barriers to participation by keeping membership and session costs affordable and creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued, regardless of experience or background. Through our activities, we promote physical and mental wellbeing, build confidence, encourage social connections and strengthen our local community.
