02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Birchvale Players is a volunteer-led community theatre dedicated to creating and sharing local performing arts. Our members run all aspects of the theatre, from producing plays to managing the venue, to ensure accessible creative opportunities for the community. Alongside our theatrical work, we provide a welcoming space for other community groups to meet and hold activities. We also operate a warm-space cinema for older people, offering a comfortable, social environment where they can enjoy films and connect with others. Our aim is to support creativity, inclusion and wellbeing across the community.

Constitutional objectives
4.1 To advance the arts, heritage & culture by promoting interest in all theatrical activities. encouraging participation in theatrical activities, organising a regular programme of films, creating partnerships with other amateur and professional companies to bring a range of performances, and provision of a youth group, all within the community of Dalbeattie and its environs.
