02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Milltimber Community Association was originally established to manage the Milltimber Community Hall on behalf of the local community. The Milltimber Community Hall is a vital amenity for the local area, providing a range of activities for all age groups in an area that otherwise has very few facilities. Activities that run at the hall include: • Taylor Dance School • Milltimber Scout Group • Milltimber Girl Guiding Group • Social badminton • Gardening Club • O50’s • Koshiki Karate • Fitness classes The hall is also available for hire as a venue for parties, fundraising events and meetings etc.

The organisation's purposes are: 4.1 The advancement of citizenship or community development 4.2 The provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities with the object of improving the conditions of life and in furtherance of these by. 4.2.1 Associating the Local Authorities, Voluntary Organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for inhabitants of the area of Milltimber in the City of Aberdeen. 4.2.2 Securing the establishment of a Community Centre and to cooperate with the local statutory authority in the maintenance and management of the Centre for activities promoted by the Association in furtherance of the above objects or any of them.
