02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Juniper Trust is focussed on ‘developing people’. We provide bespoke support to students at Scottish universities, studying for any degree, who have an interest in working in the commercial sector. Our students, mainly undergraduates, have diverse backgrounds and characteristics and are mainly from lower income households. We call those we select ‘Juniper Associates’. The overarching objective of our work is to support Associates to better understand their aspirations, values, and strengths, and to identify, prepare for, and embark upon career pathways that reflect these, primarily in the commercial sector. Since Associates are mainly university students, a secondary objective is to support them where appropriate with their educational progress. A final objective is to create conditions that will help to build a flourishing network, during and after graduation, so that Associates can continue to benefit from their peer relationships and from their ongoing connection to Juniper
