02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Men's Shed is essentially an open door for adult men providing a place where companionship, support and some learning can be gained. We also have workshop facilities that members can access to partake in activities on behalf of themselves, other individuals, local charity and other organisations needing assistance. Our success at this means that we are moving towards increasing the extent of this outward assistance to the community. We source much of pour materials and tools via donations and look to reuse, refurbish and recycle as much as possible. This allows us to provide services at a very affordable cost to those who request them but still are able to fund ourselves. Aside from some, unsolicited, but gratefully received ,donations most of our funds are generated internally via the effort of our own members. Very specifically no one takes a wage, only direct out of pocket expenses are reimbursed and so our funds are able to be directed usefully.

Constitutional objectives
The purpose of the organisation is to provide recreational facilities and advance the social needs, health and well being of men of all ages and backgrounds living in Broughty Ferry and surrounding areas By: a) Creating, developing and maintaining a facility, namely a Men's Shed. b) Offering opportunities for men in the Broughty Ferry area to meet and undertake creative, physical, purposeful and recreational activities of their choice c) Reducing isolation of men in the area thus contributing to their physical and mental wellbeing. d) Developing the capacity of men in the Broughty Ferry area to share their skills and knowledge with others in the community.
