What the charity exists to do
Stornoway Masjid is established to advance the practice and understanding of Islam and to meet the religious and educational needs of the local Muslim community. The Masjid provides weekly Friday (Jumu’ah) prayers and delivers structured Qur’an and Arabic classes for children, supporting their religious education and personal development. In addition, the Masjid actively engages with the wider community by welcoming visits from local schools across the island. These visits provide opportunities for pupils and staff to learn about Islamic beliefs, worship practices, and the role of the Masjid, helping to promote understanding, respect, and community cohesion. The Masjid also serves visitors and travellers to the island, offering a place of worship and support. Many visitors express appreciation for the presence of a mosque in Stornoway, highlighting its importance both to the local community and to those visiting the island.
