What the charity exists to do

UNAssociationScotland is a civil society organisation committed to strengthening the implementation of the UN goals and values at grassroots levels, especially the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through 8 branches, community engagement is encouraged, recognising specific local concerns. Although each branch is a separate entity, all are connected through the Management Committee under the Board o Trustees

The Association's purposes are: 1. the prevention or relief of poverty. 2. the advancement of education. 3. the advancement of citizenship or community development (including rural or urban regeneration and the promotion of civic responsibility, volunteering, the voluntary sector or the effectiveness of the efficiency of charities). 4. the advancement of human rights, conflict resolution or reconciliation. 5. the promotion of religious harmony. 6. the promotion of equality and diversity. 7. the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. 8. support for local Branches of UNAS. 9. UNAS subscribes to the Objects of UNA-UK (in summary: encouraging support for the United Nations by individual citizens and by government).
