02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Lanarkshire Deaf Hub is the only deaf-led charity supporting deaf and British Sign Language (BSL) communities across Lanarkshire and beyond. We work with deaf children, young people, adults, and families across Scotland who are affected by hearing loss and deafness. We provide a safe, inclusive, and fully accessible community environment where language and communication are delivered through British Sign Language (BSL) and other preferred communication methods, ensuring equitable access to support and services.

Constitutional objectives

To promote the benefit of Deaf people in Lanarkshire and its environs without the distinction of sex, sexuality, political, religious or other opinions by associating the local statutory authorities, volunteer organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities, or assist in the provision of facilities, in the interest of social welfare for recreation and other leisure-time occupation so that their conditions of life may be improved. Powers To further this aim the club shall: 1. Increase awareness of the club to the Deaf and hearing within the community. 2. Forge links between Deaf and hearing communities. 3. Encourage Deaf people to meet on a regular basis. 4. Provide a safe and organised environment for Deaf people to be involved
