02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
1. To engage members and volunteers in community gardening projects across Ayrshire. 2. To inspire local residents to join community gardening projects as a way of promoting healthy outdoor exercise for a worthy cause. 3. To distribute free of charge all of the fresh produce grown to the local elderly and other identified needy causes. 4. To use the community gardening projects to educate young and older local residents in agricultural growing techniques and engage with local schools to promote student learning programmes. How we will deliver those activities: Diggin' Ayrshire will work with local landowners, farmers and local authorities to secure small areas of land in locations across Ayrshire that will be dedicated to community growing projects. Diggin' Ayrshire will initiate through its website, social media, local news media, radio and word of mouth a 'call to action', which will include: • Asking for anyone with an interest in getting out in the fresh air, getting fit, and

Constitutional objectives
Diggin' Ayrshire's purposes are: 3.1 To advance education by using community gardening projects to educate young and older local residents in agricultural growing techniques and engage with local schools to promote student learning programmes. 3.2 To provide recreational facilities or organise recreational activities by engaging members and volunteers in community gardening projects across Ayrshire and by inspiring local residents to join community gardening projects as a way of promoting healthy outdoor exercise for a worthy cause. 3.3 To relieve those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage by distributing free of charge all of the fresh produce grown to the local elderly and other identified needy causes.
