02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

1.1 The club exists for the advancement of public participation in sport, particularly tennis 1.2 Provide Torrance and local area with a sustainable community tennis club accessible to all 1.3 Provide year-round access to tennis courts 1.4 Provide year-round access to coaching for every member of the club regardless of age or ability 1.5 Develop coaches from within its membership base 1.6 Increase young people’s participation in tennis through after-school programmes, come-and-play events and links with local schools, charities and youth organisations 1.7 Encourage families to exercise together with discounted family membership and family-orientated events Apart from providing a Tennis facility in Torrance the club has also provided tennis lessons for children by LTA qualified coaches, commenced social tennis and sought suggestions from the local community about the future of the club. Resurfacing of the courts and upgrading of the facilities are the current priorities.
