02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

New Cumnock Development Trust is owned and managed by the local community. It was set up to: - Spearhead the regeneration of New Cumnock. - Work in partnership with other private, voluntary and public sector organisations to realise the hopes and priorities of the local community. - Reduce dependency on grant support by generating income through enterprise and the ownership of assets. A big focus throughout the year has been on progressing the 2 capital refurbishment projects - at the former Castle Hotel and the Trotters building.

Constitutional objectives

PURPOSES 4.2. The Company's main purpose is consistent with furthering the achievement of sustainable development. The Company's purposes are: 4.2.1. to provide or advance the accessibility of recreational, facilities, and/or organising recreational activities, which will be available to members of the Community and public at large with the object of improving the conditions of life of the Community. 4.2.2. advancement of citizenship or Community development, including rural or urban regeneration and the promotion of civic responsibility and volunteering. 4.2.3. To advance the provisions for educational opportunities in the Community. 4.2.4. To advance environmental protection or improvement including preservation, sustainable development and conservation of the natural environment, the maintenance, improvement or provision of environmental amenities for the Community and/or the preservation of buildings or sites of architectural, historic or other importance to the Community. 4.2.5. to prevent or relieve poverty in the Community. 4.2.6. to advance health in the Community. 4.2.7. the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science in the Community. 4.2.8. the advancement of public participation in sport in the Community. 4.2.9. the advancement of human rights, conflict resolution or reconciliation in the Community. 4.2.10. the promotion of equality and diversity in the Community. 4.2.11. the relief of those in need in the Community by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage.
