Constitutional objectives
2 The SCIO will operate as a charitable organisation and its purposes are: 2.1 to advance citizenship and community development through encouragement of voluntary activity for the benefit of the community, in particular by: - 2.1.1 offering opportunities directly, such as working in the Lochee community shop and participating in environmental improvement projects for the benefit of the community, and through targeted improvement of the local environment with a view to encouraging civic responsibility. 2.1.2 supporting local people to identify and articulate their needs and act to address those needs. 2.1.3 increasing resources to maximise community benefit by creating strong ties with community planning partners to co-design, co-create and co-produce services. 2.1.4 increasing opportunities for community participation and active citizenship through volunteering, mutual aid, education and training. 2.1.5 promoting and encouraging the conservation and enhancement of the local area. 2.2 To advance education through the support of training programmes, including, but not limited to, programmes aimed at enabling unemployed individuals to learn new skills and gain confidence to enter further education and/or employment. 2.3 To relieve or prevent the effects of poverty by providing opportunities and information to residents of Lochee to improve their circumstances either directly or by working with public and third sector organisations. 2.4 The relief of need through the provision of available advice, services, facilities and other support mechanisms to persons who face disadvantage on account of personal background or life history with the aim of improving of the conditions of life either directly or by working with public and third sector organisations.
