02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Men's Shed is a place open to both men and women over the age of eighteen where they can socialise and work on projects or hobbies. It is a place to help others , to discuss daily issues ,to relieve stress and develop friendships. The shed commonly supply a range of machinery, workbenches and tooling which is available to all. Jobs are taken on from the general public and other community groups which in turn bring in funds to cover the running of the Shed.

Constitutional objectives

The purpose of the organisation is to provide recreational facilities and advance the social needs, health and well being of men of all ages and backgrounds living in Brechin and surrounding areas By: a) Creating, developing and maintaining a facility, namely a Men's Shed. b) Offering opportunities for men in the Brechin area to meet and undertake creative, physical, purposeful and recreational activities of their choice. c) Reducing isolation of men in the area thus contributing to their physical and mental wellbeing. d) Developing the capacity of men in the Brechin area to share their skills and knowledge with others in the community.
