Constitutional objectives

The advancement of education of persons involved in agricultural, gastronomy and rural development by the provision, encouragement and promotion of education courses in agriculture, gastronomy and rural development, instruction or training in professions, vocations, industries or crafts and trades and/or the skills needed in employment. To promote and to co-ordinate the teaching and study of, and, research into, agriculture in Scotland, including co-operation with other bodies. Here, as elsewhere in this Memorandum where the context permits, 'agriculture' includes farm and estate management, animal production and crop production, market gardening and horticulture, forestry and forestry management, fish farming, bee-keeping, poultry husbandry, the storage of crops, their processing and marketing, and associated sciences, crafts and skills, and generally all matters of whatever nature related to the use of land and water resources, including all related aspects of socio­ economics, including studies into the rural way of life and environment and the sustainable use of natural resources. The relief of poverty of persons in Scotland through the provision of - money management and debt advice to those at risk of being in poverty - advice and assistance in applying for state benefits - training in work skills, CV writing or preparation for interviews to improve employment prospects
