02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Cumbernauld Musical Theatre Society (CMTS) advances the arts, education and community participation through musical theatre and drama. We provide opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to develop skills in singing, acting, dancing, stagecraft and theatre production in a welcoming and inclusive environment. We rehearse and present musical productions, concerts and community performances, enabling local people to showcase their talents and build confidence, creativity and friendships. Members can participate both on stage and behind the scenes, including costumes, scenery, lighting, sound, music, administration and hospitality. Through workshops, rehearsals, volunteering and public performances, we promote access to the performing arts, encourage teamwork and reduce social isolation within Cumbernauld and the surrounding area.
