02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
ParentSpace is a parent-led charity in the Scottish Borders. We exist to enable and support parents and carers to create a secure and healthy base for their children's emotional growth. We believe parenting is one of the most important roles in society and that no parent should feel alone. We do this by offering evidence-based parenting courses, workshops, drop-ins and one-to-one support. These help families build positive communication, resilience and stronger relationships. Families are assessed so they get the right support, and we refer them on to other services where needed. Our small team of part-time staff, sessional facilitators and volunteers delivers this work, led by a manager who reports to our Board of Trustees. We work closely with families, partner agencies and local communities to improve outcomes for children and parents across the Borders. We monitor and evaluate our services to make sure they make a real difference.
