02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Edinburgh & Lothian Trust Fund SCIO disburses grants to individuals and families in need. The aim of the Fund is the prevention or relief of poverty and/or to assist those in need experiencing illness or disability. The Trust’s funds are restricted to beneficiaries who reside in the City of Edinburgh or the Lothians. A proportion of the funds are allocated for the purposes of social welfare of children and young people in Edinburgh

The organisation's purposes are: 4.1 The prevention or relief of poverty 4.2 The relief of those in need 4.3 The provision of support whether by way of financial assistance, accommodation, advice or otherwise to individuals or groups of individuals living in the area who, by reason of health, physical or mental disability or otherwise, are in necessitous circumstances. 4.4 The provision of assistance whether financial or otherwise to other charitable organisations operating in the area whose purpose are in the opinion of the Trustees similar to those outlined in subclauses 4.1,4.2 and 4.3 above.
