02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Performance Collective Stranraer (PCS) is a development organisation created to nurture, promote and sustain theatre artists from rural Southwest Scotland - primarily in Dumfries and Galloway. These areas have little-to-no artistic training provision and we exist to bridge the gap between youth theatre and the professional performance industry - turning artistic outlets/hobbies into viable career-paths. PCS runs regular residential Artistic Development Labs, a mentoring programme, masterclasses, workshops, Go See theatre visits and we create new theatre productions. We tour shows regionally and nationally.

Constitutional objectives

Purposes 4 The organisation’s purposes are to advance the arts, heritage and culture in Scotland, by working with professional theatre makers, artists and craftspeople. In furtherance of these purposes, the organisation will: a) promote equal access for all to the performing arts across Scotland. b) advance education by promoting and ensuring equal opportunities to participate in theatre making, through providing opportunities and activities for individuals and communities who do not easily have access to drama workshops, theatre and performance.
