02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Through a number of initiatives Greener Orkney helps protect the environment and educate our community on how they can make a difference: ? We run two community fridges to prevent food waste ? We organise regular beach cleans to tackle marine litter. As members of the Scottish Islands Federation, we have researched local marine litter. ? Since May 2025, we have operated a repair café to promote reuse and reduce waste.

Constitutional objectives
4.1 The advancement of environmental protection or improvement by supporting community-led initiatives and activities in Orkney that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants, minimise waste, remove litter and enhance local nature. 4.2 The advancement of education by the provision of information on environmental matters that relate to or impact upon life in Orkney.
