02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Anam Cara Fasgadh charity was founded to provide comfort, compassion, support, and meaningful respite for families affected by the death of a baby, child, or young person. The charity, run entirely by volunteers, provides free retreats at our caravan in Argyll, emotional support through WhatsApp messenger & monthly group meetings, remembrance opportunities on scuplted Trees of Tranquillity, and memorial events bringing families together. The charity supports families with their mental & emotional health as they navigate the lifelong grief journey following the death of their child. The charity also works with High School students through the YPI initiative to introduce conversations around baby & child loss, supporting students to present to their peers & teachers about the work of the charity & the positive impact such support can have on families.
