02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Oxenfoord International is a week-long summer school for singers which aims to bring the highest quality of music teaching and music making to all participants who are of all adult ages and stages. The implementation is an immersive experience, with most participants opting for a residential package for the week up in Scotland (previously in Musselburgh and now St Andrews).

Constitutional objectives

The organisation's purposes are: 4.1 to advance, improve, develop and maintain public education in, and appreciation of, the art and science of music in all its aspects by any means the trustees see fit, principally by providing courses in singing and accompaniment. Access to the benefit of such education should be open both to amateurs and aspiring professionals and without age limitation and more specifically 4.1.1 to develop young musicians at an early stage of their career by the provision of bursaries for such courses 4.1.2 to encourage older amateur musicians to develop their appreciation of music by providing tuition 4.2 to advance public appreciation for emerging artists by providing performing opportunities to such artists 4. 3 to further such charitable purpose or purposes as the trustees in their absolute discretion shall think fit but in particular through the making of grants and donations.
