02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Village Hall is the venue for a wide range of community activities run by local groups, which bring everyone together in this very rural area, helping us to avoid social isolation. We also host children's birthday parties, private functions and funeral teas. we are the Polling Station for the community and the Emergency Centre if bad weather strikes. A range of whole-community events, including Ceilidhs, Quiz Nights, Suppers and community BBQs are organised by the Hall Trustees who are all volunteers, happy to roll up their sleeves to keep the Hall looking its best, as well as managing the property and making sure it is governed properly as a Scottish Charity. We have a largely ageing population of around 450 people and are classed as hyper rural – with no bus service, no shop and no school. Apart from the church, there is no other facility for people to come together.
