02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Friendship Cabin is a community based charity in Glenrothes that supports older adults and local people through social activities, games, music and shared meals. The organisation provides a safe, welcoming place to reduce loneliness, improve well being, and build friendships while promoting inclusion, fun and positive connections within the community. The Friendship Cabin directly supports good health and wellbeing by combining physical activity, mental relaxation and emotional connection in a safe and supportive environment. Even though the organisation has an open door policy many of the members are older adults who face barriers to maintaining good health, whether due to mobility challenges, stress or social isolation. Alongside physical activity, the organisation supports mental heath through mindfulness practices, guided relaxation, breathing techniques and meditation.
