02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The Mintlaw and District Men's Shed provides a space where men can meet to socialise, learn and pass on skills to combat loneliness and social isolation. We carry out work within the Community as well as with a variety of schools and other charities in the area. We also mentor pupils from Mintlaw Academy providing them with an insight as to what work will look like when they leave school. For a year now we have operated a picture framing workshop as a Social Enterprise which long term will be used to feed any profits back into the Charity and thereby sustain the Charity.

Constitutional objectives
4.1 To provide recreational facilities and advance the social needs and well-being, for adult males aged 18 and over living in Mintlaw and surrounding areas, through creating, developing and maintaining a facility, namely a Men's Shed. 4.2 To support men in need by reason of age, ill health, disability or other disadvantage through reducing social isolation and providing opportunities for men to meet and take part in social, creative, physical, purposeful and recreational activities of their choice. and to develop their capacity to share their skills and knowledge with others in the community 4.2 To support men in need by reason of age, ill health, disability or other disadvantage through reducing social isolation and providing opportunities for men to meet and take part in social, creative, physical, purposeful and recreational activities of their choice. and to develop their capacity to share their skills and knowledge with others in the community.
