02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Our charity’s aims and purposes are to improve our local environment, children’s education and community cohesion and increase public access to Blackwood Estate and the SLC Core Path Network for recreation/education. In 2021 we undertook a community buy-out of 67 acres of ancient woodland (known as Loch Wood) in Blackwood Estate, for provision as a community woodland – we have now provided 4 new outdoor learning areas and are working to develop a fifth. We work with our local schools and community groups to provide outdoor learning and community activities.
