02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

LVSC has been established to fulfil the following Charitable Purposes: •The advancement of public participation in sport. • The provision of recreational facilities or the organisation of recreational activities with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the individuals primarily intended to benefit from these facilities or activities. LVSC offers a wide range of activities aligned with its charitable purposes, including: • Royal Yachting Association (RYA) dinghy and powerboat courses. •Sailing development opportunities for individuals of all skill levels. •Canoeing, Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP), and other water-based activities. •Volunteering opportunities for those interested in being involved in the charity's activities

Constitutional objectives

4 The organisation's purposes are to create a range of opportunities that encourage the public to engage in water based activities, particularly sailing either as members of the Sailing Club or on an ad hoc come and try basis through taster sessions and other publicly accessible activities. The outcome of this will be to encourage a greater uptake of participation in sporting activity with the additional benefits of improving the health and well-being to our local community as those further afield.
