What the charity exists to do
The charity is set up to provide a space for the local community to carry out activities that enable the advancement of education, citizenship and community development. It also creates opportunities for the participation of sport and recreational activities. The facilities provided in the hall are available to everyone living within the local area and the trustees encourage its use for various additional activities such as fund-raising events, parties and celebrations.

Constitutional objectives
The organisation's purposes are: - To provide and maintain Eckford Village Hall for the use and benefit of the inhabitants of Eckford and environs in the Scottish Borders, as defined by the Scottish Borders Council for the Crailing, Eckford and Nisbet Community Council (eg Community Council area) without distinction of political, religious or other opinions, for recreation, leisure and educational purposes of all kinds with the object of improving the conditions of life of the said inhabitants. - To promote citizenship and community development in the area of benefit defined above.
