02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
We are a group of writers for writers who put on virtual and in-person writing/spoken word/workshop events some led by our annual Makar and Scriever, to ena our members to showcase their work. We provide a monthly comprehensive newsletter by email advising of writing competitions, opportunities and congratulating our members on their successes with a writer of the month piece. Our events are throughout Scotland as is our membership, we also have members in other parts of the UK and the world. We hold an annual open competition with cash prizes and a bi annual anthology of our members' work and winners of the different categories of the competition are also given a place in this publication. We engage with our members via social media, our website, the newsmail and through a voluntary advisory panel made up of volunteer members.
