What the charity exists to do

Hen Harrier Action campaigns for the conservation and protection of Hen Harriers and other birds of prey in the UK, particularly against illegal persecution linked to grouse moor management. The charity raises public awareness through events like Skydancer Day and Action for Wildlife Day, runs competitions for children and young people like Young Wild Writer and Young Wild Photographer, raises funds to support wildlife crime detection efforts including satellite tagging and detection dogs, and advocates for sustainable upland land management to support biodiversity and thriving wildlife.

Constitutional objectives

4 The company's objects are: (1) to promote conservation of the hen harrier (Circus Cyaneus), in particular its protection from illegal persecution. The hen harrier is a red-listed Bird of Conservation Concern. (2) alongside and in support of its principle objective: to promote the conservation and better protection of other raptors threatened by illegal persecution. to promote biodiversity in the areas, particularly the uplands, where hen harriers and other raptors are found. to raise awareness of activities in such areas which are damaging to the hen harrier, to raptors and other animals or to the environment more generally. and to increase public awareness of wildlife crime and its prevention. (3) thereby to bring wider benefit to the environment, to wildlife and to public enjoyment of nature, especially in the uplands.
