What the charity exists to do

Friends of Fetlar Kirk was set up to purchase Fetlar Kirk and then to use the building for the public benefit of the community of Fetlar. Regular services are held in the Kirk and it is also used to display exhibitions and for concerts.

The organisation has been formed for the public benefit of the Community of Fetlar as defined by its geographic location as an island (“the Community”), with the purposes listed, to be exercised following the principles of sustainable development (where sustainable development means development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs). 5. The organisation’s main purpose is consistent with furthering the achievement of sustainable development. The organisation’s purposes are: 5.1 the advancement of education. 5.2 the advancement of religion. 5.3 the advancement of citizenship or community development. 5.4 the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science.
