02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Our Umbrella aim is to help our community manage its resources more effectively through the delivery of our Charitable Aims. Our activities are based around a community shop, selling high quality second hand goods priced so that all community members can afford them. We make donations to local organisations from our profits and work with other community groups to improve our environment. We provide training opportunities to our volunteers through working in the shop and we engage with local young people through providing volunteering opportunities. We have started to run classes to teach people about upcycling through crafting and reuse and are starting to partner with other organisations to provide sign posting to other related activities e.g. remaking, mending and upcycling.
