02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Provide an advocacy service to older people who reside in North Lanarkshire. We provide this in various settings such as Hospital, Integrated Day Services, Care Homes and in their own homes.

Constitutional objectives
To provide relief to people resident in the North Lanarkshire and its environs who are in need because of mental health or dementia, or poverty or other disadvantage or impediment to mental or physical health to provide independent advocacy services serving the needs of such people. In furtherance thereof, but not otherwise the company shall seek:- 4.1.1 to ensure that the views, opinions and wishes of people with mental health issues or dementia are heard and respected and taken into account. 4.1.2 to promote the welfare of people with mental health or dementia issues, or other disadvantage brought about by poverty or ill health in North Lanarkshire and its environs. 4.1.3 to encourage and support the involvement of people with poverty, health, mental health or dementia issues, in the planning of services, management and delivery of advocacy in North Lanarkshire and its environs. 4.1.4 to empower people with mental health or dementia issues in North Lanarkshire and its environs to ensure that they have influence over decisions that affect their lives and that their rights and interests are protected. 4.2 To provide education and training which promotes an awareness and understanding of advocacy to other agencies, health professionals and members of our targeted service users which benefits the public in general and our client base in particular 4.3 To promote, conduct and/or support other charitable projects and initiatives of a charitable nature for the benefit of the community.
