02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The purpose of the Group is to protect and manage the Rigside and Douglas Water Community Nature Reserve at Loudon Pond for the benefit of the whole community of Rigside, Douglas Water and the Douglas Valley, and for the benefit of the wider community beyond Douglasdale, We achieve these purposes by maintenance activities (invasive weed removal and rubbish clearance) for the purpose of keeping footpaths clear. Wildflower and native tree planting, maintenance of bird and bat boxes, tree pruning and coppicing, orchard tree pruning and maintenance. Maintain and improve access to the Reserve, reduce the amount of dog- fouling by providing a waste bag dispenser and guidance

Constitutional objectives

The purpose of the Group is to protect and manage the Rigside and Douglas Water Community Nature Reserve at Loudon Pond for the benefit of the whole community of Rigside, Douglas Water and the Douglas Valley, and for the benefit of the wider community beyond Douglasdale, the Group's objects being the advancement of education and the creation of an environmental site for the benefit of people of all ages and improving access to the area for the benefit of the whole community of Rigside, Douglas Water and Douglas Valley and for the benefit of the wider community beyond Douglasdale.
