Constitutional objectives

4.1 The promotion of equality and diversity by the inclusion of disabled people in Highland (regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, or sex) in participative and representative decision-making, including influencing the practice and delivery of public services in Highland. (As set out in clauses 121.4 and 121.5, the Social Model of Disability explains that “Disabled People” are disabled by barriers in society). 4.2 The advance of education by raising awareness of the social model of disability in Highland through the delivery of Disability Equality Training and Continuing Professional Development. 4.3 The advancement of citizenship and community development by bringing together the collective voices and networks of disabled people and their allies in Highland. 4.4 The advancement of human rights, conflict resolution, or reconciliation by working with local decision makers, allied organisations and individuals in Highland to protect and uphold the rights of disabled people.
