02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Give Blood 4 Good is on a mission to get as many young people to donate blood as possible. Donating blood is a safe, simple and rewarding way for people to give back to society, often helping people at a critical point in their lives. Through working with organisations, schools and universities across the country, we’re aiming to improve education and increase participation in blood donation among young adults, and empower people to continue to give blood until they’re no longer able. To achieve this, Give Blood 4 Good is breaking down the misconceptions to remove the fear and mystique that can often be associated with the process, so that everyone who needs a blood transfusion can receive one.

We aim to encourage all eligible people to donate. This means focusing on creating a culture that inspires the younger generation to donate and to continue to do so until they are no longer able. A staggering 81% of 18-24 year olds have never donated blood, with 35% of this age group admitting that they are scared to donate . Targeting the younger generation is important to Give Blood 4 Good because we feel if we can encourage blood donation to become a regular part of people's lives from a young age then we can increase donor participation levels long-term. Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 Section 7 (2b- the advancement of education), (2d- the advancement of health) and (2e- the saving of lives).
