02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Our charity is to here to advance the well-being of the LGBTQ+ community in the Highland region of Scotland. We do this through promoting engagement across the highlands though education, and understanding so that the community feels visible, included and supported. We hold events such as LGBTQ+ History month, Trans day of remembrance vigil, the Pride day parade and party, a ceilidh, carols with Pride with Inverness Cathedral, Sounds of Pride musical events. and campaigning on behalf of issues that promote well-being and combat isolation.

Constitutional objectives

To facilitate the preservation, protection, promotion and advancement of the mental health, physical health, and social welfare of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender + (LGBT+) Community in the Highlands by: Providing signposting for advice and support for the LGBT+ community available locally and nationally (eg information on health and other services) and provide a link with agencies working on LGBT+ issues and initiatives. Facilitating social events to help address social and geographical isolation faced by the LGBT+ Community. Promoting fair and equal treatment for the LGBT+ community by challenging the stigma, discrimination, and anti-LGBT+ attitudes and behaviours experienced at both a community and a personal level, either indirectly or directly.
