02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Inverkeithing Trust is a volunteer-led non profit community group created to deliver and support projects that improve the environmental, social, cultural and economic wellbeing of Inverkeithing. We aim to help build a strong, vibrant community by engaging with townsfolk on projects as well as 'joining the dots' to let them know what's happening in their community. The latter via social media, community noticeboard, events and leaflets through doors. Examples of activities: Burns Suppers/Annual flower show/Garden competition/Fundraised for new children's play park and local Nursery garden/Community shop & cafe: open to all and giving extra help to individuals and families where needed/Lammas Week activities eg fun bowls, duck race, history walks, community picnic/Donations to support other community groups eg children's gala, community garden, community pantomime/Environmental eg tree planting & 'rewilding' to improve biodiversity/ Campaigning on issues important to community.

Constitutional objectives

The organisation's purposes are set out below. -To advance citizenship, community development and volunteering within and for the benefit of the community defined by the Inverkeithing Community Council area by delivering a diverse variety of services and initiatives without distinction of sex, sexuality, political, religious or other opinion, with the object of improving their conditions of life. -To improve the mental and physical health and well-being of all the inhabitants of the Inverkeithing Community Council area by facilitating non-clinical, community led activity from various sites across the community of Inverkeithing. -To advance education and learning by providing workshops, training sessions and courses in the community of Inverkeithing. -To advance the culture, art and heritage of Inverkeithing through a variety of initiatives. -To advance environmental protection or improvement through a variety of initiatives, including re-purposing vacant and derelict land into accessible and productive green space, to benefit all the inhabitants of the Inverkeithing Community Council area. -To provide recreational facilities and organise recreational activities to improve the conditions of life of all the inhabitants of the Inverkeithing Community Council area.
