02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Helensburgh Community Hall Ltd, (known as Helensburgh Community Hub) purchased the hall at 113 East Princes Street in Helensburgh in 2020, to run it as a community facility. The Hub has a hall which is available to hire by any community groups. We have a suite of offices which are leased by other third sector organisations and we operate a second hand book shop selling donated books As well as managing the facilities we run our own programmes which are currently a) promoting reading for pleasure which includes a local program of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and an annual book festival run jointly with other local charities b) encouraging and valuing volunteering including an annual volunteer thanking event. ~And c) we have recently begun to engage with community resilience initiatives We have a very hands on group of Trustees, a paid development manager and an army of volunteers.

The company's purposes are: - the advancement of education - the relief of those in need by reason age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage - the advancement of citizenship and of community development, the promotion of civic responsibility, volunteering, the voluntary sector and the effectiveness and efficiency of third sector organisations including social enterprises.
