What the charity exists to do
To act as an umbrella organisation supporting groups and individuals in the designated region to deliver benefits to the community. Further to directly deliver benefits to the community when no suitable group is available.

Constitutional objectives
(a) to benefit the community of Langholm and District comprising the area within the boundaries of Langholm, Ewes and Westerkirk Community Council in the postcode district of DG13 (“the community”) through:- i the advancement of health, ii the advancement of community development, iii the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture and science, iv the provision of recreational facilities or the organisation of recreational activities with the object of improving the conditions of life for the person for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended, v the advancement of environmental protection or improvement, vi any other purpose that may be reasonably regarded as analogous to any of the preceding purposes, and (b) to promote such similar charitable purposes, objects or institutions in such proportions and manner as the Trustees shall think fit. The expression ‘charitable purpose’ or ‘charitable object’ shall mean a charitable purpose under section 7 of the 2005 Act which is also regarded as a charitable purpose in relation to the application of the Taxes Acts and a ‘charitable institution’ shall mean a charity in terms of the 2005 Act which is also regarded as a charity in relation to the Taxes Acts, or a charity under the law of any other jurisdiction which is also regarded as a charity in relation to the application of the Taxes Acts, provided that nothing in these Articles shall authorise an application of the property of the Company other than in furtherance of a charitable purpose.
