02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Humanists International is a charity dedicated to promoting and advancing Humanism. We campaign on humanist issues. We defend humanists at risk of persecution and violence. We lobby for humanist values at international institutions, including the United Nations. And we work to build the humanist movement around the world. To achieve this, we empower our global member organisations, collaborate with other Humanist organisations, and engage with international bodies to advocate for humanist principles and policies. We raise funds through various methods, including membership fees from member organisations, general donations, regular (monthly or annual) contributions, donations to fundraising appeals, legacy gifts, and grants from trusts and foundations.
