02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The purpose, which we fulfil through fundraising activities, of raising a sustainable income stream of funding for primary and secondary education in DRC and in order to extend the scope of rehabilitation work with former child soldiers in DRC. Pearl campaigns to encourage people to invest in those goals whenever they purchase a mobile phone or tablet, or renew an existing contract, and these funds are then directly channelled back into grass-roots projects led by trusted and experienced partners working in DRC (Comfort Congo). The aim, which we achieve through both publicity and personal visits to churches, schools and organisations, is also to increase the understanding and social awareness of people in the UK of the circumstances of those who spend their lives extracting the minerals which are integral to our modern technology.

Constitutional objectives
4 The organisation is established for charitable purposes only, and in particular, the objects are: 4.1 The prevention or relief of poverty amongst needy persons through the support of vulnerable children, the rehabilitation of child soldiers and the development of associated, sustainable projects in The Democratic Republic of Congo and such other countries as the trustees decide. 4.2 The advancement of education through supporting access to education and training in The Democratic Republic of Congo and such other countries as the trustees decide. 4.3 The advancement of human rights and conflict resolution through relieving the needs of former child soldiers in The Democratic Republic of Congo and such other countries as the trustees decide. 4.4 The promotion and advocacy of justice, equality and sustainability through raising awareness of the impact of conflict minerals, the exploitation of child soldiers, vulnerable persons and associated issues. 5 The area within which the organisation shall operate (in this constitution referred to as the 'Area of Benefit') shall be The Democratic Republic of Congo and such other overseas countries as the trustees decide. 6 The organisation shall promote (but not promote exclusively) its activities and delivery operations to people within the 'Area of Benefit' who are affected by poverty, trauma or other disadvantage. These people will be the organisation's beneficiaries.
