What the charity exists to do
Wester Ross Biosphere Ltd is the community-led charity that manages the UNESCO designation locally. Our team of Trustees, staff, members, supporters and volunteers aim to bring communities together to ensure the wellbeing of our natural and cultural landscape and our long-term economic future - to create a thriving Wester Ross for everyone.

Constitutional objectives
Object: The Company's objects as a charity are to advance, for the benefit of the public, environmental protection, community development (particularly sustainable rural regeneration), education, heritage, culture, and health through recreational activity by operating the Wester Ross Biosphere in the area of Wester Ross, Scotland which has been designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. In so doing, the Company shall have the following aims for the Biosphere:- 1. To conserve and enhance the natural and cultural heritage of the area. 2. To promote the Biosphere as an area for scientific research and assist in its dissemination in local, national and international networks. 3. To promote sustainable economic and social development of our communities in harmony with its natural resources. 4. To manage the Biosphere within the framework established by UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere Programme.
