02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Spirit of Springburn (SCIO) is a grassroots organisation, comprising a group of local residents and supportive service providers in and around Springburn, who have the health and wellbeing of our diverse communities at heart. Determined to lead the way to a healthy, happy and productive future, we aim to create good, sustainable methods of communication within our communities and to promote self-development wherever we can. 4 The organisation’s purposes are: 4.1 To source community development opportunities. to create new and fun activities for all ages and abilities in a space that brings people together, helping to reduce isolation and develop people’s skills and confidence. 4.2 To relish the diverse cultures we have in Springburn, and to create a place where we know each other - a true community spirit. 4.3 To utilise every opportunity to take care of our green spaces, to create a welcoming environment and to celebrate Springburn’s impressive locomotive history, the Springburn
