02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Dementia Project UK Patients and Carers Foundation is set up to support, guide, inform and provide comfort to people living with dementia, their carers and families throughout the UK, with particular emphasis on Scotland. We do this by developing and providing volunteer-led emotional and practical support, advice, information and communication services, including telephone and digital support. Volunteers with personal experience of dementia and caring help people understand and cope with the effects of a dementia diagnosis. We also undertake fundraising and awareness activities to support and promote these charitable services.

Constitutional objectives
4.1 FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT TO PROVIDE A WIDE VARIED RANGE OF SERVICES TO SUPPORT, GUIDE, INFORM, STIMULATE AND COMFORT PEOPLE LIVING WITH DEMENTIA, THEIR CARERS AND FAMILIES IN THE UK BUT SCOTLAND IN PARTICULAR, BY PROVIDING SUCH SERVICES AS A TELEPHONE SUPPORT LINE, RUN BY VOLUNTEERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCE OF COPING WITH DEMENTIA AND COMING TO TERMS WITH A LOVED ONE’S DIAGNOSIS BY PROVISION OF EMOTIONAL AND PRACTICAL SUPPORT, ADVICE, INFORMATION AND THE PROMOTION OF THIS TYPE OF SUPPORT WHICH WILL ASSIST BOTH THE VOLUNTEERS AND THOSE CALLING THE SERVICE
